Little Miss Ali's New Tricks :-)

Alegria seems to be growing, learning, and changing by leaps and bounds lately. This week she has learned how to scoot her little behind. This may not sound like a great feat, but it does make holding her on your lap a bit more challenging when she is really active. She likes to arch her back, dig her feet in, and scoot her behind. Her brother experienced this yesterday as she tried (thankfully unsuccessfully) to scoot herself right off his lap.

She also continues to try to sit herself up from a semi-reclined position. Today I put her in her swing while I was getting ready and she did not like the idea and kept pulling her back away from the seat. Unfortunately while she certainly has the strength, she doesn't yet have the coordination so she just falls back against the seat and tries again.

We tried the bottle again for the first time since switching the g-tube last week. Alegria made a terrible face and looked at me like I was crazy. It was SO nice to be able to continuously vent her (burp her) while feeding; it made everything so much easier! At one point the little smarty pants seemed to realize that while she might be able to prevent me from putting the bottle in her mouth, she could show her displeasure of it by simply refusing to suck on it! (Typically she tries to suck on anything she can get in her mouth, so this seemed very deliberate!) Thankfully her stubbornness only lasted a minute or two though. While she didn't particularly like the idea at first, she still took 30 cc in less than 20 minutes nonetheless. And she was so much more comfortable since the air was not building up in her little tummy! I am hopeful we will be able to make much more progress orally now!
