When we first started talking about the idea of a Birthday Party in memory of Ali, I wasn't really sure anyone else would "get it". And we weren't really sure what to plan for the party either; it just doesn't really fit into your typical birthday party mold. We finally decided that it would be more of a casual open house type party with good fellowship and yummy food.
Friends started arriving right at noon and the last family left sometime after 6 I think. Including our family, we had just under 60 people here on Saturday. We had lots of food and lots of fellowship. It was such an encouragement and blessing to us.
We had both of Alegria's books out for people to look at pictures. And we had even more photos on the wall. We shared Ali stories with new friends who had never met Ali, and we reminisced with those who did know her. It was truly a joyous time.
The children all seemed to have a lot of fun playing together too. We had the wii going downstairs and since it was sooo cold outside we also opened up the large hallway upstairs for the kids to play. It turned out to be a great place for the kids to get out their energy. :-)
The party turned out absolutely perfect.
Thank you so much to everyone that came out, and thank you to all of you who prayed for us and remembered us long distance. :-D
Here are just the few pictures we managed to take...we were all too busy fellowshipping to remember to stop and take photos :-)

Dear Jill,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for letting us be part of your special day. It was a blessing to meet all your family--I loved chatting with your mom too and hope to see her again. The books were beautiful as well--you did such a great job on them. So glad we got to see you yesterday and that the children are over being sick (we know how that can be!).
Many blessings...
Though we didn't make the party, I really enjoyed seeing your picture books of Ali--thanks for sharing them with me:)
